The Thai New Year was last week and Pat and I went with our friend Bob to Pattaya for 3 days. Now in Thailand the new years is a moving holiday. Pattaya celebrates it on the 17 - 19 while in Bangkok it is celebrated 15 -17. And for those who don't know...the Thai New Year is celebrated by throwing water! EVERY WHERE and on EVERYONE!! If you are in Thailand during New Years...you are WET!
Our first day there, we went to Jomtien Beach...lovely and nice. We go to a certain area and they have chair and it is covered....keeps that hot sun off us. We ordered lunch and just relaxed for several hours...a great beginning.
We did have to run the risk of getting wet....Pattaya has decided to celebrate the new year for a week....lucky us. That night we went to the Central Mall...very big and beautiful....a lovely dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant. The bad news...I lost my passport. NOT GOOD..but these things happen. I reported it to the Thai police.
Our next day we went to Nongnooch Gardens outside of Pattaya. I was there 5 years ago and it is even more beautiful than before. Lovely time there. They had a cultural show and an incredible elephant show....some talented elephants! We spent most of the day there and finally went back to the hotel for a rest and to get ready to meet our friend Duane and Wit.
Dinner was great at a wonderful Issan Restaurant...Wit's favorite and then off to bowling. Well..we were all tire but had fun...the scores were not that high but it was a fun evening. Of course Wit was the best bowler...that is usual for us...a great evening.
The next morning was just time to have breakfast and get our way to the buss station and back to Bangkok. A great time and fun to see our friends Duane and Wit.
New Years was great! We were not in the city where all the troubles were and missed all the excitement here. And that was good also.
